Today I’m going to talk about business cards and the impact they can have on your business.
Now I am NOT a graphic designer.
But that’s okay.
Why do I say that?
Because I’m a marketer.
I am going to show you what my business card looks like.
I got this idea from a fellow named Mike.
I’d give you his last name, but then you’d know who one of my mentors was and I don’t want you to get sidetracked, so I’ll save that conversation for another post.
Business cards are business cards.
That’s what most people say, but I don’t believe that and neither should you.
I’ve seen some pretty darn sick business cards.
Some of those business cards were fun and entertaining, while the more professional people used business cards that look like they came out of the 70’s.
Some people THINK they need to be professional and that people just need their name and address, and that’s true sometimes but what about REFERRALS. A lot of people don’t think past that.
But business cards are something that you have to put a little effort into.
A picture, a well placed, well taken picture is important, especially if you’re a female.
Men like to look at women’s pictures, so if you’re a female, have a really good photo of yourself, so people know who they’ll be dealing with.
I’d also say in your business card adventure, make sure you don’t use a white business card.
That’s boring unless you have a lot of fancy personalized scripting in your business card copy.
When you write your business card, look at it as a sales piece. If people like what they see, and read, they’ll call you. If they don’t, you’ll never hear from them and your business card will end up in the TRASH. That’s why you have to make it count. Do it right, and you’ll get lots more referrals.
